2 Ways Of Life
Based on the 1857 composite photo by Oscar Gustav Rejlander, Two Ways of Life, The 2 Ways of Life mimics the manner in which the original image was created, compiling the approximate number of over 30 combined images but using updated digital technologies – Photoshop and stock images. The work reflects the binary created in the original work, sin versus virtue. Rejlander’s piece also reference to Raphael’s fresco The School of Athens.
The second part of this project is a collection of gift shop ready-made items featuring the image. The objects replicate consumerist attraction based art experiences, while elevating the supposed importance of the artwork.
